Sprouts!

Sprouts! Pics!

Some of the seeds have started to germinate, and the sprouts are poking through the dirt!

Dad seems happy, relieved almost to finally have things growing in his garden. I'm super excited too, its so cool to see how plants grow... I mean, I remember germinating seeds in like 6th grade bio, but its a lot cooler when they are plants you care about lol.
the beets are small and delicate, poking through clumps of dirt
BEEEEETS!!!!

I don't want to dwell on this, but I'm kinda bummed that my brother and sister don't really care about this. Bro wouldn't even come out and look, but my sis did. I showed her all the plants sprouting out and all she did was shrug and say "Yeah, cool."

Mom wouldn't come look either, literally just told me, "That's nice, buddy." I know why they are acting so uninterested- hell I used to think the same way as them.

We all used to talk. When dad spent so much time in the garden every evening, they- no we- would say that he should have been spending that time with us. In a way we were all jealous of the garden and the time dad put in there, time which we wanted for ourselves.

What we didn't understand, and what they still don't understand is that the garden is Dad's place - and that if we wanted to spend time with him, the garden was always open.

I haven't tried explaining this to my sister and mom yet because they are more sensitive, but I explained it to my brother, and he was just an asshole about it. When I asked him to come look at the garden, he said he didn't care. When I told him it mattered to Dad he said- and I shit you not- "Why should I give a damn what matters to Dad if his own family isn't at the top of the list?"

I remember getting really mad at that, and trying to explain that we are at the top of the list- and that even if Dad would never say it I knew it must hurt his feelings that we never cared about his hobby, and never came out to work the soil with him.

Sorry for that rant, now I'm getting myself in a bad mood. Even if my family doesn't get Dad and the garden, at least I do. I'm proud of the work I'm doing with Dad, and seeing the sprouts struggle up through the dirt is really like magic...

these are probably herb sprouts, very small. They are working their way through the soil.
I wanna say this was herbs, but... If I'm wrong, it'll be pretty obvious once they grow up.

I'm going to find a way to get them to see it too.

The peas look kinda cool too, but my phone was dying so I didn't get any more pictures at the time... sorry.
