Bees in the garden

Today I was in a real slump.

Couldn't get any writing done on my book.

I just really miss dad. I have my writing to distract me, and I have the pest control to keep me busy, but I don't have anything to actually make me happy, other than the little piece of land dad and I cultivated into a garden.

So that's where I went when I was feeling really down today. did some weeding.

I sat and watched the honey bees for a while. They were dad's favorite bug. So I like them.

I took a video

The video works better if you adjust the play settings for slow motion, (took this on an iphone using the slowmo setting.)

Some wasps came by too, and chased each other around.

I tried to get a picture but they turned out so blurry:

Scary looking wasp, blurry because it wouldn't hold still for pictures.
Blurry wasp.

And I while they hovered for nectar, I hovered for raw veggies... Since what happened last time, I haven't bothered trying to talk to Joe, and I haven't bothered cooking the food from the garden.

At least not if it can be eaten raw. I can keep it all to myself if I just eat it off the plant.

So I go out and shell and eat peas right off the vine. Sometimes I find little baby peas and they are so tender and delicious.

Baby sugar snap peas, so tender and delicious.
Baby snap peas, so tender and yummy!

Anyway, did a bunch of weeding, and ate all the peas I could find, and simply didn't want to go back inside. So I went for a walk, and stirred up the compost. Some of it is about ready to bring back, I think. Good timing, because I'll be doing a second planting once the weather cools down.

While I was out there I found a wild raspberry patch and ate as many handfuls as I could find.

and on the way back home, I saw this:

I think it's a raccoon print. I've never caught one in the havahart, but this is the second time I've seen tracks like this, I took a photo to post around and see if I can ID it. Either way, I'll try experimenting with different bait, it'd be great to catch something new. just so I can see what that'd be like.

Anyway, I feel I ought to say thank you to the people who've been following along all this time, and helping me cope with all the shit that's happened summer. I'm teetering on the edge, so to speak. And some people are still harassing me on reddit, but... the handful of people who have sent me private messages of support and comfort have kept me from falling over the brink.

So thank you. Those who have been kind: I hope you have great days ahead, you deserve it.

Those who haven't been kind... You aren't all that different from squirrels and opossums. I'd be happy to catch the raccoon, but even happier to catch you. ;)

Well I'm still in a funk. But now it's dark, I'm gonna try and chip away at chapter 15...
