Working in the garden with dad has made me really appreciate the importance of clean air, healthy soil, and safe water!
I asked dad about organic gardening. We don't use any pesticides, and the "fertilizer" we use is all natural compost (Made out of foxes, lol... In case you missed that)
But he explained that there's really no such thing as organic now- on the most basic level- because there are all manner of pollutants everywhere around us.
Acid in the rain...
Particulates in the air...
Contaminants in the soil...
Chemicals in the ground water...
He went on to rant about how we (humans, not us specifically) are chopping down rainforests and overfishing the oceans and tipping the scales of Earth's natural ecological balance.... And it's all for a few dollars.
I was thinking about that stuff throughout the day, and sketched out a couple random environmentalism cartoons on scrap papers. Take a look:
"Overfishing" |
"Deforestation" |
"Water Pollution from the Corporate Hose" |
"Twin Terrors- Air Pollution and Radiation" |
"Soil Contamination" |
Of course, I've heard all this stuff before in Earth Science... But my teacher was a bitch, so it didn't sink in. Hearing my dad talk about it, it kinda clicked a little bit better- and he's right.
Humans are the real garbage that litters the planet. (My words, not his)
I hope this whole post didn't come off as preachy. This is just stuff That's been on my mind. You know I love gardening with my dad- and if you spend time nurturing plants you start to appreciate environmentalism a little bit more. I'm not telling you that you need to be "green." I'm just saying I want to be.
If you liked any of this, I've got more art here!
Dude... Please stop posting your art on here. It's nothing to be proud of- really your photos and "anecdotes" are bad enough.
ReplyDeleteShould've known you'd show up... Good- because I drew that stinking turd with you in mind. Enjoy, troll.
DeleteJust block the jerk's IP address, Alex.
ReplyDeleteThanks man, I didn't know you could do that! I might have to if I ever get too mad about it. But I don't usually like blocking... Freedom of speech and all that.
DeleteIn retrospect I wish I knew how. Now I'm looking back at this early trolling with a sense of nostalgia. The current trolls make that guy look like a saint.
DeleteI came across your blog when I was curious about how quickly bones decayed. Somehow your blog showed up. I wanted you to know that I think it's neat. It's a beautiful way to remember your father.
