We were talking about the plans yesterday and I had to just say it was out of my hands.
But dad must have been just present enough (if not in spirit, then in the front of my mom's mind and in the lawyer's mind)
They decided not to bury him in a stupid plot in an irrelevant cemetery. They decided to "follow his will as best they could we can"
I could not convince mom to let him have an open air burial, in the garden. She said because she was afraid of the legal ramifications. But I think it's because she's selfish. We should be doing what dad wanted- to the letter- who gives a damn about the law.
The lawyer got the private property burial permit approved, so dad will be buried here. Not directly in the garden.... But he will be here, and that's the first thing.
The lawyer said we'd have a digger come in with a machine, but that feels a little unceremonious. Actually disrespectful. I'm gonna spend the day digging instead. I'm not going to invite Joe to help because he is a piece of garbage and he would say no anyway.
And tonight we will do the burial as a family.
