STONY BROOK PARK! Family outing

Hey friends and strangers!

We took a break from gardening today... Dad wanted to do a family trip- it was kinda spur of the moment and he still hasn't said why.

Whatever his reason for doing it though, I'm glad he did. It felt really great to have the whole family together. Would've felt better if they'd put in some work on the garden, but hey you take what you can get.

He brought us to a place called Stony Brook Park, in upstate NY.

Let me just tell you, it was awesome! Here's the pics:

The stream bed at stonybrook park, pine trees in the background, a small cascade of cold water up front.
Such a cool rapid! We kinda climbed up the smaller waterfalls
instead of sticking to the trails.... Don't tell anybody.

a view of the streambed and the cliff face opposite the water
a view of the wooden bridge, from the streambed downstream
There were other families there. They told us we might get in trouble for walking in the stream bed, but we lucked out. Park rangers never saw us.

a view of the cliffs, with the sun lighting up the peak
"THE CLIFFS OF INSANITY!"
the trail is very well maintained
Love the ferns growing at the base of the cliff.
Felt like the kinda place dinosaurs would've liked to chill.

the cliffs at stony brook are very steep and rocky. There's lots of shale.
Bit of a head trip, looking up from the bottom

Possibly the support for a bridge, its made of concrete and very geometric in shape, similar to a tower.
I don't know what this is, but it looks cool.
Bro said it looked like a bridge support, Dad said he could be right.

Similar to the first structure, this one has what appears to be brick layering around its walls.
Another old bridge support?

A view of wildflowers, with a medium sized waterfall behind it at stonybrook state park
And best for (almost) last: Flowers and waterfalls.
If you ever get a chance to go to Stony Brook Park, don't pass it up! Awesome hike, beautiful falls... They even have a swimming area in the river (I really wish I got a picture of that, its super cool).

Lastly, a bonus picture... not of Stony Brook, just a hilarious road sign we saw as we were driving back.

a road sign, called pokamoonshine road.
POKAMOONSHINE ROAD... A real street name

Anyhow, I hope all my readers are doing well. How was your Saturday? Probably not as good as mine, but I hope it was close!
