Ugly Distraction... A disgusting, filthy Opossum is just what I needed right now.


It's hard for me to keep posting, all I can think about is dad writing his will...

He said "Life is fragile and time is precious."

But I'm wasting all my "precious" time worrying and fixating on the idea that "life is fragile" and he might not be around forever.

I gotta put my mind on something else.

Convenient that when I went outside this morning I found this:
a possum with scraggly fur, trapped in a havahart trap. it has beady eyes and is looking through the bars of the cage
About as ugly as my thoughts lately
So, we caught a possum... OR opossum. I'm not sure what the difference is.  It looks like a gigantic rat though. It also stinks like piss and feces. (EDIT: this is an opossum... A possum is more like koala bear, so I assume not as ugly. Thank you Valrii for explaining the difference!)

What am I gonna do with you?
Dad hasn't come outside yet, he happened to be repairing a light fixture inside, and asked me if I'd come out and start weeding. He'll join me in about 30 minutes....

So what am I gonna do with this wretched creature? I doubt it's worth trying to eat (It looks and smells utterly repulsive).

But as dad said... "Life is fragile" though I don't think this thing's life is all that precious- and I have 30 minutes to kill....




UPDATE: anybody have any tips on how I could catch something bigger? There's a fawn I've seen a couple times when walking. Obviously it won't fit in a havahart. Here's a night picture: https://mydadsnameisharold.blogspot.com/2018/08/night-walks-because-night-keeps-no.html

    You might want to consider deleting comments from IP addresses that are consistently non-constructive or negative, Alex. I would do that in a shot.

      Peter, I'm looking through old posts and sort of internet scrap-booking memories of my dad. And I don't want to block the haters in general because I feel like i want open dialogue. But when I post the scrap booked post I definitely don't want those trolls soiling my dad's memory. are you good with blogger? Do you know if it's possible to disable comments on just one post and not others?
